BOTOX ®
BOTOX is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that softens lines on the face and neck. The most popular uses are to soften the frown lines of the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabella), and fine lines around the eyes. Dr. Terry also uses advanced techniques with BOTOX in facial contouring to elevate the eyebrows and to give the smile a more youthful appearance.
BOTOX can also be used to decrease excessive underarm sweating and can help to decrease the pain associated with TMJ.
Le Celle offers BOTOX Rewards toward future treatments.
What Is BOTOX ? How Does It Work?
BOTOX is a purified protein produced by Clostridium botulinum. It is a simple, non-surgical treatment that temporarily reduces wrinkles. Small amounts of BOTOX are administered with tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause the lines. The protein works by blocking a nerve signal to the treated muscle to reduce its activity and stop the muscle from forming lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months.
When will I see results from a BOTOX treatment ? How long will the results last?
Within 3-10 days, you will see an improvement in the treated area. Results can last for up to 4 months. Users of BOTOX report a 90% satisfaction rate with improvement in their appearance. If you decide to discontinue treatments the lines gradually reappear as they were before treatment.
Is treatment with BOTOX painful?
Discomfort is minimal and brief. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Prior to injecting, Dr. Terry will ask you to numb the area with ice.
What are the possible side effects?
Most experience few and minimal to no side effects. Temporary and mild side effects that may occur include a tenderness, redness or bruising of the injection site and a dull headache. Discontinuing anti-inflammatory medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, ginko, fish oil and high doses of Vitamin E several days prior to the procedure will reduce the chances of bruising. Other possible but infrequent side effects include infection and a temporary eyelid droop.
Who should not use BOTOX ?
Medical conditions that may disqualify a patient include pregnancy, breastfeeding and neuromuscular diseases. BOTOX should also not be used if an infection is present at the injection site or the individual has a known history of sensitivity to BOTOX®.
Will my facial expressions continue to look natural ?
Our goal at Le Celle is to naturally enhance your looks by softening facial lines. Although the results are noticeable, a treatment with BOTOX will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you had “work” done.
How much BOTOX will I need ?
BOTOX is injected in measurements of units. Every patient is unique in the amount of BOTOX he or she will require. An average treatment is $280. Dr. Terry will discuss the cost before your treatment.
