Laser Skin Tightening
Part of the aging process involves a decrease in the number of collagen fibers and stretching out of these fibers. Laser skin tightening targets the layers of the skin where collagen is produced. SkinTyte increases the firmness of the skin without surgery, recovery time or injections. SkinTyte can tighten the skin on your face, neck, chest, arms, hands, abdomen, and legs.
How does the SkinTyte work?
SkinTyte utilizes pulsed light energy to stimulate new collagen growth. The heat created by the light creates immediate skin tightening through collagen contraction and long term stimulation of new collagen. The treatment utilizes the body’s own natural healing processes, creating both new and stronger collagen. This results in increased skin firmness and a more youthful appearance.
What areas respond best to the SkinTyte procedure?
Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the abdomen, back of the upper arm, along the jaw line and under the chin (“jowls”) and neck have responded particularly well to the treatment. How many treatments will I need?
A series of 2-3 treatments spaced one month apart is recommended for most people. Dr. Terry will personalize a treatment plan based on your skin and the level of improvement that you desire.
What happens after the treatment? Are there any side effects?
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours. As usual, protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use sunscreen (spf 30).
When will I see results?
Due to immediate collagen contraction some results can be seen immediately. The most significant results are seen gradually, as new collagen is formed over a three to six month period. Results typically last 2 years or more. SkinTyte is a great alternative to surgery, but it is not a replacement for a facelift.
Using a medical skincare regimen at home in combination with your SkinTyte treatments will yield the most effective results. Combination treatment with lasers or chemical peeling, Botox and dermal fillers can all contribute to superior results.
What do the treatments feel like?
During the treatment you will feel a deep warming sensation as the surface of the skin is cooled. Most. patients are comfortable without anything additional anesthesia.
What medical conditions exclude treatment?
Pregnancy, active local or systemic infections (including an active herpes breakout), active skin conditions in the treatment area such as eczema.
